For almost six decades, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) CEO Warren Buffett has been putting on a clinic for Wall Street. Despite being just as fallible as any other investor, the Oracle of Omaha has overseen a greater than 5,260,000% return in Berkshire's Class A shares (BRK.A) since taking the reins in the mid-1960s. Returns of this magnitude are why 40,000 people flock to Omaha, Nebraska, every year to hear Buffett speak about stocks, the U.S. economy, and the investing philosop

Fire is hot. Ice is cold. Water is wet. Some statements are so self-evident they don't need to be made. However, I'll add one more to the list: Warren Buffett knows how to make money. Buffett's net worth currently stands at nearly $138 billion. He amassed this fortune by buying businesses (notably including Berkshire Hathaway ) and investing in stocks.

Image source: Getty Images It seems as if the price of gasoline is always on the rise, and it never really gives anybody a breather. And while historical data doesn't exactly show this to be wholly true, it definitely has seasonal swings and long-term trends that can take your breath away. For example, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the average price of unleaded regular gasoline in America in June 2024 was $3.601 per gallon.

The U.S. government's growing interest in nuclear power has contributed significantly to the rise in upstart nuclear power stock NuScale Power (NYSE: SMR) lately. But it's another arm of the government, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), that is energizing the bears today thanks to news that the agency that regulates U.S. securities is currently investigating NuScale Power.

If you're an investor focused on growth, you may have spent a fair share of your time at least watching Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock in recent times -- even if you haven't jumped in to invest in this high-flyer. Nvidia dominates the artificial intelligence (AI) chip market, and that's helped the company deliver triple-digit gains in revenue and profit.
More commonly known as Ripple, the XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) cryptocurrency seems to be in dire straits nowadays. Though it once soared to a short-lived peak of $3.09 per coin, Ripple hasn't touched the $1 benchmark since the spring of 2022. And the coin doesn't always follow the broader crypto market trends -- Ripple has dropped 15% over the last year while Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) gained 133% and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) prices rose by 75%.
Over the last couple of years, the technology industry has become overwhelmingly enamored with artificial intelligence (AI). In particular, semiconductor stocks have witnessed newfound growth and investors can't seem to get enough. While Nvidia is the biggest icon in the chip space right now, I see another company emerging as a superior investment over the next several years.
The age at which you begin taking Social Security can make or break retirement, but it's not always easy to decide when to file. Some experts swear by delaying benefits to maximize your monthly payments, while others highly recommend filing earlier. In reality, there's no single best age for everyone to begin claiming. Some retirees really are better off waiting, yet filing early can also be a smarter move in some situations.
Social Security pays the average retired worker today $1,918 a month. And many seniors rely heavily on that money to make ends meet once they stop working. You may be looking forward to getting a monthly benefit from Social Security once your retirement begins. But if you're planning on keeping your monthly Social Security check in full, here's some potentially disappointing news -- you may not get to.

Wall Street is full of extremely smart, well-educated, highly compensated individuals in charge of managing billions of dollars of investors' money. But the truth is, most of them aren't worth their fees. You don't need to be a Wall Street insider to beat most actively managed mutual funds. A simple investment strategy has outperformed nearly 88% of funds over the past 15 years, and its relative performance typically gets better over time.

I don't rely on dividend income yet. But I'd like to be in a solid position to do so when I'm ready to retire. The good news is that plenty of great alternatives pay juicy dividends. Here are three ultra-high-yield dividend stocks I'm buying for decades of passive income. 1. Ares Capital Few stocks offer a dividend as spectacular as Ares Capital (NASDAQ: ARCC).

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) set a blistering pace for growth in the second quarter of 2024, reporting that its revenue grew 18% in comparison to last year's Q2 -- and its earnings grew 21%. So why were investors not impressed? Shares of the defense giant slumped after earnings came out on Wednesday. And while those losses were pared in Thursday trading (the stock recovered about half of Wednesday's losses), investors still seem unconvinced that General Dynamics' growth path is for real, and that
