Image source: Upsplash/The Motley Fool Well, we've gotten through Spooky Season, so that means there's only one season left -- but it's a biggie. The Holiday Season, so named for the absolute cacophony of holidays that are crammed together between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, is a busy time. It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also one when most adults have the least amount of room to breathe in the still, chilly air.

There's one unfortunate reality facing Ford Motor Company 's (NYSE: F) investors: Alan Mulally isn't walking back through the doors at the Blue Oval offices. Mulally, the automaker's CEO during the financial crisis, engineered the company's path forward without a government bailout. And his "One Ford" vision helped propel it to record profits in just a few years.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Medicare is that the cost of enrollment is free for older Americans. It's true that Medicare Part A, which covers hospital care, generally doesn't come with a premium (though there are other out-of-pocket costs enrollees face, like deductibles and coinsurance). But Part B, which covers outpatient care, charges enrollees a premium just to have that coverage to begin with.
Hydrogen power is often hailed as the ideal green alternative to fossil fuels since it can be produced using renewable energy like wind or solar to produce the electricity needed to split water into its component parts of hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen that is extracted is then used to power an engine and the only byproduct of the burned fuel is water.

Image source: Getty Images When I first joined Costco about 18 years ago, I decided a basic membership made the most sense for my household. Back then, it was just me, my husband, and a small dog, and we didn't need to shop at Costco more than once a month to load up on cleaning supplies and non-perishables. It didn't make sense to buy groceries in bulk from Costco because we wouldn't use them up in time and get our money's worth.

Inflation has cooled substantially since peaking in June 2022, but elevated prices are still a problem for many retired workers. A recent survey from the Employee Benefit Research Institute, a nonpartisan research organization, found that 56% of retirees are worried they'll have to make big spending cuts to keep up with inflation. Social Security benefits will receive a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in 2025 to compensate for rising prices across the economy.

UPS (NYSE: UPS) stock received another upgrade, with an Argus analyst slapping a $150 target on it and upgrading the rating from hold to buy. UPS finally delivers Part of the optimism from the Argus analyst and others comes from the recent results, which halted a run of disappointing earnings reports. Management overestimated delivery volumes in 2023, and its second-quarter 2024 earnings report was little short of embarrassing.
There may not be a hotter stock on Wall Street right now than Palantir Technologies. The company's artificial intelligence (AI) software is revving its growth engine, and there is a wide-open market opportunity in both government and the private sector. The stock is up approximately 800% since the start of last year. Be warned. Momentum can sometimes take stock prices to irrational places, and Palantir's valuation has arguably become untenable at more than 50 times the company's revenue.
Image source: Getty Images Lower class, middle class, and upper class are all widely used, but rarely defined terms. For some people, lower class means living in poverty, upper class means a life of luxury, and middle class is everyone else. Thanks to the 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances, we can get a more accurate idea of what these terms mean financially.

While Target isn't a discount retailer per se, its prices can be pretty competitive in certain categories. Shopping there might help you save money on some of the items you buy regularly.

Over the years, the market's hottest tech stocks have generated powerful gains for their long-term investors. For example, a $10,000 investment in artificial intelligence (AI) chip giant Nvidia made a decade ago would have grown to be worth nearly $3 million today, with dividends reinvested. A $20,000 investment in its rival AMD would have blossomed into a holding worth just over $1 million.

When you hear the names Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) and Warren Buffett, I'm willing to bet that artificial intelligence (AI) investing is not the first thing that comes to your mind. However, if you look at some of the stocks they own, it's clear that some of their portfolio is exposed to the AI trend. This is mostly based on the companies in his portfolio choosing to pursue AI rather than Buffett and Berkshire choosing to pursue AI companies.
