The investment universe is filled with options for investors seeking dividend income. But since the goal of dividend investing is to boost your income and wealth significantly over the long haul, there are fewer viable investments than you'd think. Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) and Domino's Pizza (NYSE: DPZ) are two dividend payers that investors owe to themselves to think about buying for their portfolios.
Ford (NYSE: F) pared back its electric vehicle (EV) production targets on Thursday. The auto giant now expects to achieve an annual manufacturing rate of 600,000 EVs in 2024. Management had previously hoped to reach that pace by the end of 2023. Ford also warned that its EV business would generate losses of roughly $4.5 billion this year compared to prior guidance of $3 billion.
The United States has for years lost out in the tech manufacturing race, and a surprising change is now afoot. Semiconductor manufacturers, including Taiwan Semiconductor (NYSE: TSM) , Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) , Samsung , Texas Instruments , and others have announced plans to open massive factories in the United States. Those moves represent a major victory for both the U.S. economy and the federal government, with the CHIPS Act helping to encourage domestic chip manufacturing.

Image source: Getty Images Recently, I sold my home. I have sold several properties, and normally when someone buys a house I've owned, the closing process has been a huge pain. We have sat for a long period at a title office while the office looked for some HOA paperwork. And we have had notaries come to our home, sometimes showing up late or coming at inconvenient times like at 7 a.m.
There are a number of stocks that have reached the $1 trillion market cap club, including Apple , Microsoft , and Amazon. Getting in on these businesses early could have led to life-changing returns. In the world of cryptocurrencies , reaching this level is rare. But with a current market cap of about $570 billion, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) is by far the world's largest cryptocurrency, so it has the highest chance to hit the 13-figure mark among the tens of thousands of digital tokens out there.

Warren Buffett is the GOAT (greatest of all-time) when it comes to investing, and it isn't even close. His conglomerate, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) , has posted an overall gain of 3,787,464% through the end of 2022, meaning he turned $1,000 into roughly $37 million. And Berkshire's compound annual gain has doubled that of the S&P 500 -- at 19.8% versus 9.9% -- from 1965 to 2022.
Inflation has been cooling nicely since peaking in mid-2022. While that's a good thing for consumers, including retirees on fixed incomes, it could also set the stage for a much lower Social Security cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, in 2024. COLAs are pegged directly to changes in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W).
All in all, it was a pretty good quarter for Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL). Revenue was up 7%, driving a 12% year-over-year improvement in operating income. Its search-based advertising business is bouncing back from a recent bout with economic headwinds. Where the company was most impressive for the three-month stretch ending in June, however, wasn't in ad sales.

For long-term investors, compounding growth at high rates is the name of the game. If you can buy a company that compounds earnings and cash flows at high rates for a long period, odds are you will have a very comfortable retirement. While the markets have recovered somewhat in 2023, there are still high-quality growth stocks out there that look undervalued.
Both AT&T (NYSE: T) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) are dealing with consumers who have become less willing to upgrade their smartphones and more willing to switch wireless providers. For Verizon, this has led to elevated churn and chronic subscriber losses. AT&T has also seen churn tick up a bit, but not nearly as much as Verizon. And while AT&T's subscriber growth has cooled, the company is still winning over customers.
If you're on the hunt for growth stocks that have what it takes to be long-term winners, it can pay to think big. While small-cap stocks might have more-explosive potential, large- and mega-cap companies often come with some distinct advantages and can still outperform their tinier peers in many cases. Backing top companies with large established markets and strong competitive advantages can help minimize downside risk while still leaving the door open for strong returns.
Master limited partnerships (MLPs) have fallen out of favor with investors over the years because of their tax complexities. Instead of sending a 1099-DIV for tax purposes, MLPs send their investors a Schedule K-1, which typically arrives late in the tax filing season. However, the extra work when filing taxes (and potential delays) can be well worth it, because many MLPs offer high-yielding distributions.
The stock market has had a great run in 2023. But investors that regularly contribute savings to their accounts may be thinking that now is a good time to deploy new capital toward safer investments. One option worth considering is Dividend Kings , meaning companies that have paid and raised their dividends for at least 50 years. Dividend Kings have long endured market cycles.

This hasn't been a good week for Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) investors. The rain started to trickle down on Monday, when Evercore ISI (NYSE: EVR) slashed its price target from $130 to $110. The firm is lowering its near-term estimates, concerned about near-term weakness in linear-TV advertising revenue. With production strikes finding media networks scrambling for fall season content, it's easy to see why marketers might be holding back on that front.
Shares of Verizon (NYSE: VZ) have been under a lot of pressure in recent years over concerns that its heavy investments in 5G could cause its financial profile to deteriorate. That caused a weight of worry the telecom giant might need to cut its dividend, which has driven its yield up to 7.7%. However, those concerns seem unfounded. Verizon's second-quarter results showcased that its investments in 5G are starting to pay off.
AMD 's (NASDAQ: AMD) stock closed at a record high of $161.91 on Nov. 29, 2021. At the time, the bulls were impressed by its robust sales of CPUs, GPUs, and embedded chips. But by Oct. 13, 2022, its stock had sunk to a two-year low of $54.57. The bulls retreated as the post-pandemic slowdown in PC sales curbed its growth and rising interest rates compressed its valuations.
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) , the company traditionally known for designing chips for high-end video game graphics on PCs, has ushered in a new era of AI. The generative AI chatbot ChatGPT quickly picked up tens of millions of users starting in late 2022, creating ballooning interest in other generative AI services -- nearly all of which are "trained" using Nvidia semiconductor systems.
When you invest in dividend stocks, you're normally doing so because you want a recurring payout. But in some cases, you can also set yourself up for some potential gains as well. This year, investors have been pivoting toward big artificial intelligence stocks and have dumped some quality investments along the way. A couple of stocks that are down more than 20% this year and pay dividends -- and have upside of more than 50% according to Wall Street analysts -- are Royalty Pharma (NASDAQ: RPRX)

The master limited partnership (MLP) has increased its distribution to investors for 25 straight years, its entire history as a public company. It appears as though investor optimism is surging, with the Nasdaq Composite index up 35% so far this year. This is exactly the type of rebound that investors wanted after the market tanked in 2022. Although stocks broadly are doing well, there are some individual businesses that look like good portfolio additions right now. Indeed, there are a lot of things to like about Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG) in particular.
QuantumScape (NYSE: QS) is trying to change the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Its solid-state, anode-free lithium-metal battery technology provides significant benefits that could help springboard mass EV adoption. As QuantumScape has been hitting some important milestones in the development of its technology, its stock has been moving higher.
