Tesla 's (NASDAQ: TSLA) quarterly earnings calls are always a highlight. CEO Elon Musk often says some wild things, but praise for competitors isn't often among them. That's why it was noteworthy that Musk mentioned none other than AI chip leader Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) on the call a couple of times. The implications for Nvidia shareholders are significant.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) reported solid financial results for the second quarter, beating expectations across the board. Deliveries soared 83% year over year as the company leaned into discounts, revenue rose 47% to $24.9 billion, and net income climbed 20% to $0.78 per diluted share. But Wall Street took issue with the price cuts, which pushed Tesla's operating margin to a two-year low, and the stock price slipped 10% following the report.

Many investors consider the S&P 500 to be in rally mode, given its 15%-plus rise in 2023 thus far. It is still roughly 5% below its prior all-time high set in early 2022, though. A bear market is usually defined as the period after stocks decline by 20% or more, with a bull market being the reverse situation (showing an over 20% gain). By that measure we appear to be approaching the end of the latest bear market that began in early 2022.

Investors looking for stocks with explosive growth potential would do well to take a gander at the biotech industry.
